What is happening in Dallas for Halloween weekend 2026? Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, and Dallas has a full weekend lined up: a Dia de los Muertos concert at the Meyerson, Dracula at Moody Performance Hall, and free trick-or-treating downtown.

A Saturday Halloween changes the whole weekend

Most years, Halloween lands midweek and gets squeezed between work and school. This year it falls on a Saturday, which means Dallas gets a full three days of it, from Friday night in the Arts District to a slow Sunday morning with an extra hour of sleep.

Whether you live in Oak Cliff, Lakewood, Uptown, or anywhere in between, you don't have to choose between the kids' plans and your own. Below is a day-by-day look at the events we'd actually put on our own calendar, all confirmed for 2026.

As local Realtors at ALTA Realty Group, we spend a lot of time talking about what makes a Dallas neighborhood feel like home. Weekends like this one are a big part of the answer.

Friday, October 30: Start in the Arts District

Dia de los Muertos with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra

On Friday at 7:30 p.m., the Dallas Symphony Orchestra honors lost loved ones at the Meyerson Symphony Center. Conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez leads a program with three mariachi groups and two ballet folklórico companies.

You're invited to bring an offering for the ofrenda, and pan de muerto and hot chocolate will be served. The concert runs without an intermission, so plan dinner beforehand.

Dracula at Moody Performance Hall

Avant Chamber Ballet opens its season with Philip Glass's Dracula, performed Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Dallas Arts District. Choreographer Katie Puder sets the gothic story against modern, color-blocked costumes, and a string quartet plays Glass's score live.

If you want one grown-up night out this weekend, this is a strong choice. It's spooky without being a haunted house.

Saturday, October 31: Halloween night

Trick or Treat on Downtown Streets

Downtown Dallas, Inc. hosts its 8th annual trick-or-treat event with H-E-B on Halloween night, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Expect kids' activities and live entertainment along with the candy.

It's a walkable, early-evening option, which helps if you have little ones who won't make it past 8:00. You can still be home in time to hand out candy on your own street.

Dracula, second night

If Friday didn't work, Avant Chamber Ballet's Dracula performs again Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Moody Performance Hall.

For the grown-ups: Cosmic Howl

It's a short drive to Grapevine, but Meow Wolf's Cosmic Howl is the after-hours option. The adults-only party runs from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. with DJs on four stages, roaming performers, and a costume contest. Bring a physical ID.

Sunday, November 1: Fall back and reset

Daylight saving time ends early Sunday morning, so clocks go back an hour at 2:00 a.m. You get the extra sleep you'll want after Saturday night.

It also means darker evenings for the next few months. Sunday is a good time for a quick walk around your home:

  • Reset outdoor light timers and smart-home schedules to match the earlier sunset.

  • Check porch, walkway, and driveway lights, especially if you had extra foot traffic on Halloween.

  • Take down decorations before the next round of fall weather, so they don't stain siding or hold water.

If you're thinking about listing in the spring, small upkeep like this adds up. Homes that look cared for in November are usually easier to prepare in March.
